Craig Passero makes bar to manuals look too easy. Charlie Crum is underrated. Alex R. Makes crooks to 180 amazing. DBG makes me wanna hard 180 out of everything.

overall, I landed my first manual bar in months, possibly even a year. Sage was showing me how it’s done doing on the 3rd stair. Everyone was somehow getting their hop 3s in order. Sage got a gnarly shiner and took it easy for most of the night and then came back to destroy this one 7 stair. I wish I would of snapped a photo of the turndown he clicked. Ended the night with a sweet roof sesh. goodtimes.

This past weekend Josh and I got to ride, it’s not often we get to ride Saturday and Sunday being he works a different schedule than I do. For some reason the stars aligned and we got our shred on both days.  Saturday we filmed a couple clips we have been itching to get filmed. Sunday was more of a chill day. We stocked up on some tubes then hit up some low key spots.

Stop #1 Akron park. this place was awesome. We got here before the sun even rose. Jerm & I were little too tired to join in on the dawn session with Loughead, Slade, & Shilo. After the sun came out and warmed the frost off my bike we got into a pretty good game of bike with the whole crew. Eventually some local shredders came out and joined us.

Shilo brought up a cool idea for me to ride off this ledge into the wedge. I was a little scared but after seeing how the photo would frame up on Loughead’s camera I had a shred boner. I was attempting to pop off the little curved tranny into the wedge. The last time I went for it I completely divorced my bike and tried to tackle the wedge. I felt fine until I tried to bunny hop and felt like something was seriously wrong with my shoulder. I sat out,filmed and shot photos for the rest of the day.

Young Jerm and I were on the hunt for some Popeye’s as soon as the trip started. We hit up the local Popeye’s and regrouped looking for the next spot.

driving around we randomly found this rail. Shilo got his bike off the rack and everyone assumed the positions. I was really impressed with Shilo’s riding on this trip. He went in hard to get this rail done.

We were trying to get to a certain spot when the GPS was giving us the runaround. As usual we were on the look out for spots while driving semi-lost. Jerm came up on a sweet wallride down some stairs.

took him a couple tries and he even did a pain sprint after crashing hard once. Jerm came out victorious. Then Shilo wanted to put his mark on the spot too. here he is measuring it up or planking, I’m not really sure. haha

He decided to go for the catacorner route.

first thing in the morning, I’d say around 8 am. fresh out the van, with no warm ups, Shilo gets this sick Ledge drop. after having my own experience riding across a narrow brick ledge and now filming the clip wearing a sling made out of sheetz bags, I was really excited to see Shilo get this. the clip came out decent as well.
Later in the day we got to hit up this amazing school in Pittsburgh. I was beside myself with how awesome the spot looks in real life. I had to sit on the sidelines as my shoulder still wasn’t feelin hot. Justin KTS and his crew came out and met up with us. Those guys all are really good. They showed us how the locals do it.

Loughead eyed up this huge wallride and got it done. He was pedaling faster and faster and each time going higher on the wall.

afterwards, we went to another rail spot where Shilo was trying to get it in, Slade was trying the same rail the day earlier and neither could quite get it. In their defense this had to be the longest rail I’ve ever seen anyone try in person. Shilo one time even flipped over the bars when he put his pedal down.


after a couple more tries, Shilo tweaked his wrist when he got real close to landing it. So we packed up and headed to a local park.

This park looked like way too much fun, so I tried picking up my bike and seeing what I could do and not do with my shoulder. I was able to bunny hop. it felt like a miracle. I thought for sure I was going to be out for about 3 weeks.

all in all it was a great trip. ups and downs, getting lost, pulling U turns. everyone came through and got a little something. I wanna say ThankYou to Loughead for organizing trips like this and the rest of the crew for being team players and making the trip a success. Until next time!

Slow week for news. Captured a few clips from Loughead last night. Stoked how they came out. Also, my frame & fork from 2×4 came in. Waiting for a few more parts then I’ll be building up Lafawnduh 2.0

First of all, I want to say that the above video gets me so stoked to ride every time I see it. Eli has an effortless style that really comes through here. I also want to mention that there’s been a lot of debate on DVD vs web videos. I like both, however, I do think there is one difference between the two. Patience.

In order to produce a dvd you really have to wait till all the footage is together. Sitting on footage isn’t fun, I have been working on a video part that has some 2 year old clips but I’m psyched on them. And I’m willing to wait to show them. Also along with the patience aspect is sitting down and actually watching the video. Eli’s part refrenced above is the second to last part in the video. When you actually watch the Into the Void dvd you’ll watch all the other parts first (usually) before you get to this part. Which adds suspense to the whole thing.

When a dvd section is released online, how is it usually uploaded? section by section. which takes away from the suspense of wondering who’s going to be up next instead of just clicking the person you want to see.

The last thing I want to mention is isolation. I want to say more often than not, my friends watch web videos usually in their own free time as to watching a dvd in a room together. I do that too, I’ll sit here and watch what ever I’m interested in over on TCU and then go about my day. It becomes something you’ll talk about with your friends once you get to see them and ride but sometimes not something you actually enjoy together. And that’s one thing I really liked especially as a young kid growing up. To watch a video with your friends, everyone gets psyched and then head out to ride. Now, you can still very well do that with a web video barring that you have the capabilities to hook your laptop up to your tv, if not, everyone’s crowded around a small laptop or monitor not fully seeing the detail of the clips.

Basically what I’m saying is as long as its on a big screen and it’s not some pixelated garbage I’m in. Getting your friends together and seeing which clips gets them stoked also helps you learn about eachother’s vision of what bmx is and I think that’s pretty cool.
